Welcome to JLF India
Established on 5th November 2021 with a plan to coordinate legitimate guide and mindfulness drives – Justice and Liberty Foundation, India has forayed into various roads with the fundamental goal of adding to the positive improvement of the general public with a focussed socio-lawful methodology.
The activities at JLF India include an active dissemination of legal information via the medium of its official website, rolling volunteer programmes for law students to help them develop a holistic personality with a socio-legal approach to their professional personality, interviews with famous personalities working at the ground-level offering experiences into their effective tasks, giving a stage to promote and publish the art of research and legal writing, amongst many others.
Our team works to promote legal activism as we believe that law and society are two sides of the same coin. Law and society are so inextricably interdependent that to both need to be equally improved in order to lead the world into the desired new order. We at JLF India trust in a better and brighter tomorrow. We trust not simply in that frame of mind on this drive to change – rather, we expect to drive towards the change.
About Adv. Siddhant Mohanty:
An advocate, academician and criminal justice enthusiast. After finishing his LLM from Queen Mary University, London in 2015-16, within a span of two years he opened his law office – SM Legal, Advocates & Solicitors. Apart from conducting trials and achieving acquittals before various lower, district and sessions courts related to dacoity, attempt to murder, narcotics, Indian Explosives Act, POCSO, etc., he is also looking after Corporate Compliances/Advisory, Constitutional Law at SOA National Institute of Law, Odisha, India. Being passionate about criminal justice reforms, he also conducts pro bono matters and have given reliefs to wrongfully implicated students, widows and needy individuals by conducting trials for free.
He started a new initiative as the Justice and Liberty Foundation (JLF) which aims to work in the areas of legal aid, prison/judicial/police reforms, juvenile justice, victim rehabilitation, child rights and education. With a vision to develop and demonstrate sustainable and scalable models to improve different aspects of the justice delivery system and JLF is also developing mechanisms to address the issues related to access to justice.
